Significant Events:

Ran for president in 1880. Was a major general in the civil war. He was the commander of the division in the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. There he fought against his best friend, Armistead, and Armistead died not far from Hancock. Hancock was well respected by his men for his courage on the battle field. His nickname was Superb.
